In April of 2013, a tragedy occurred at the Boston Marathon in which several people were fatally injured, and others received serious injury. Many area runners wanted to help these families. They asked Uberthons to provide an event in which they could attend, and pay their respects, and to help the families. Kelly Barten of OregonLive.com and Alan Rasmussen of Uberthons acted as the race directors, and within a few weeks, over 600 registrations came in from everywhere, running shirts and medals were designed by Sara Anderson, an abundance of good people volunteered to help at the event, Qdoba Mexican Grill prepared for the post-run feast, four Boston Marathoners prepared speeches, and the event was on!

This community spirit was overwhelming. People helping people. Strangers helping each other. This same spirit helped start the Scholarship Run. The Run will continue every year on Boston Marathon weekend. Hopefully, it will spread to other areas. Each year, we will remind each other how precious life is, and how much we appreciate others, and especially those in our own communities.
Registration is open. Make sure to download your free phone app. Search ITS YOUR RACE, and download the app to see your instance results, course, and other information. Entry fee is $30, and includes event medal with neck ribbon.
Thank you for making this event a great community event.
